    LickNotes: Cutting tip: use masking tape for carbon forks to prevent splintering. Wrap the tape around the steerer at the cutting point. Make sure to use a fine cutting blade (32TPI or finer). Finish the cut edge with sandpaper before removing the tape. For steel or aluminum steerers, use a file to finish the cut edge.
