|The Rack is an expedition-worthy piece that will work perfectly on any hard-core touring or errand bike (with the right eyelets, of course). It's made out of cro-moly (steel) due to its durability and ease of repair compared to aluminum. In the rare instance that it breaks, you should be able to find somebody to TIG, MIG, stick weld, braze or solder it back together. An aluminum model won't afford you the same luxury. It's height-adjustable, so you can get your center of gravity as low as possible to provide a stable ride. The hardware included allows it to work with most frame sizes between 42cm and 62cm, plus a few larger. Its wide platform has plenty of room for rack trunks, sleeping bags, tents, boxes of lima beans, or small cages full of hamsters. Racks are phosphate coated inside and out, then powder coated for corrosion resistance and good looks. The stainless steel hardware provided will enable you to fit them to most rigid 26 inch and 700c frames (will accommodate most 29 inch wheels) equipped with drum, caliper, or cantilever brakes. Disc brakes and suspension are generally not compatible with Surly racks. Load weight limit is 80 pounds (36 kg).
